THE WRITERS' ACADEMY AT THE KRAVIS CENTER
WRITERS' CIRCLE Instructor: Julie GIlbert
Writers’ Circle has been created as a haven for serious writers of all ages. It is a safe environment in which to explore expression, expand and hone craft, share results with oral readings and respectfully critique fellow-writers. The course will include one 15-minute private session with Ms. Gilbert and a Mid-day Munch and Marketing Seminar. Once a piece of work has been sufficiently developed, it may result in a public reading by professional actors at the Kravis Center and/or on WXEL-90.7 FM.

SHOWCASE THE WRITING Host: Julie Gilbert
Showcase the Writing consists of two events, which introduce talented new writers to the public. All genres of work are presented by professional actors who create the form of ‘story-theater.’ Showcase the Writing is a non-ticketed event and open to the public.

WRITERS' LAUNCH Instructor: Julie GIlbert
This course, a pad from which to raise written expression. Within every human being there are unspoken thoughts and memories; there is buried treasure. This course is designed to alchemize the unexpressed bounty into a discipline of form, content, technique and style, which will result in story. The focus and goal is toward the fictional short story.

PLAYREADING'S THE THING Instructor: Julie Gilber
Playwriting’s the Thing is a hands-on exploration of the most durable form of entertainment. Four seminars concentrate on the fundamentals of stage dialogue and monologue and how to create them. In the first two sessions, the craft of dialogue within a scene will be examined and then written and performed by professional actors. In the next two sessions, the monologue will undergo the same process.

Rob, Robbin, Roberta by Dan Seymour
In the wake of Hillary Clinton, a woman of many guises, comes Rob, Robbin, Roberta, a powerful creation of one woman percieved three ways and the perplexed man who adored her yet may want to destory her. The play poses the question of whether a strong identity preceded achievement or whether achievement precedes identity. This is a play for women and men of all ages.
