The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
Presents Alexander W. Dreyfoos Award
To Board Member Jane M. Mitchell
(West Palm Beach, FL – May 4, 2010) The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts recently named Jane M. Mitchell as the recipient of the prestigious Alexander W. Dreyfoos Award in recognition of her “exemplary and distinguished service, generosity and leadership” on the Kravis Center’s Board of Directors.
The award was presented to business leader/cultural philanthropist Jane M. Mitchell by Kravis Center Chairman William A. Meyer during the Center’s Board and Standing Committees Luncheon on April 28.
The Dreyfoos Award was established years ago to recognize inspirational individuals who “share the common goal of making our community a better place, and (whose) dedication to the Kravis Center underscores that objective,” said Meyer, who praised Ms. Mitchell for her “extraordinary history of involvement with the Center. She has been involved, in fact, since its inception, when she first became a donor.”
Not only has Jane M. Mitchell made generous annual donations to the Kravis Center, she created a personal Giving Plan in support of the Center’s Endowment.
“But it is not only about the checks she writes,” added Meyer. “The gift of her time and talent is the truest testimony of her dedication to the Center. Rarely does a Kravis Center event go by without this lady’s presence whether it is the Gala, the Palm Beach Wine Auction, a recognition dinner, the Corporate Partner’s barbecue, Reach for the Stars or by hosting a prospective donor for dinner. Our recipient serves on our Board of Directors and Governance Committee and chairs the Development Committee. She is truly a shining inspiration to all of us.”
During the Center’s Board and Standing Committees event, Meyer also praised Board Member and Gala Chair Laurie Silvers, who sponsored the luncheon along with her husband Mitchell Rubenstein. Meyer also thanked Ted Mandes for chairing the annual Palm Beach Wine Auction, and R. Sherlock Elliott and Bill Stellway as Co-Chairs for the Young Friends of the Kravis Center who hosted the 17th annual Reach for the Stars. In addition, Meyer acknowledged the passing of longtime Kravis Center supporter and Life Trustee Natalie Stone.
