DANCE IMMORTAL JEROME ROBBINS: HIS LIFE, HIS DEMONS, HIS LEGACY
Lecturer: Steven Caras
A Kravis Center Cultural Society Event

Artist … tyrant …lover of men, women, music & art … Jerome Robbins was also, at times, a man of unfathomable insecurity and self-doubt. But in spite of his self-imposed obstacles, Robbins’ choreographic genius prevailed.  From West Side Story and Fiddler on the Roof to Fancy Free and Dances at a Gathering, he produced an astonishing number of Broadway and ballet masterworks in his lifetime. Through years of professional collaboration and research, Steven Caras, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation, provides insight into the dramatic life of a man who may be remembered as the most extraordinary yet complicated dance celebrity of all time.

THEY ONCE HAD FACES, THEY ONCE HAD STYLE
Lecturer: Lee Wolf
A Kravis Center Cultural Society Event

They had star quality: remote, glamorous, protected and scandalous. Their lives were often more dramatic and audacious than the roles they played on screen. Bette Davis, Ava Gardner, Joan Crawford and Katharine Hepburn, they fought with raging passions against the men who tried to harness and define them, and they lived life on their own terms. Their stories are far more compelling than their screenplays and Lee Wolf will share their lives and their secrets with you.
